Aura di Raku is a Raku ceramic sculpture signed by Gabriella Gaudino and Roberto Giuntoli. The iridescent shades range from deep blue to powder pink, crossed by the characteristic black cracks generated by the firing process.

The piece can be displayed as a standalone work or used as a sculptural base for a lamp.

Product Description

The Raku technique subjects ceramics to sudden temperature changes, and part of the final result depends on the interaction between glaze, fire, air, and smoke. The black lines running through Aura di Raku are not painted; they arise from micro-cracks in the glaze during the cooling process.

The elongated shape offers a wide surface on which blue and pink merge without creating sharp boundaries. The glassy finish changes its reflection according to the ambient light, making each side slightly different.

Used as a sculpture, it can be placed on a side table or console. Its configuration also allows for consideration as a lampshade base, entrusting the electrical assembly to a professional and verifying compatibility beforehand.

Use and care

Raku ceramic is decorative and more delicate than ceramics intended for everyday use. Do not wet the piece, and clean it only with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid impacts, sudden temperature changes, and prolonged exposure to humidity.

In the Raku technique, crazing, shading, and glaze reactions cannot be perfectly controlled or replicated. They are the unrepeatable signature of the encounter between artisanal gesture and fire.
