Vertical Eclipse is a ceramic sculpture by Gabriella Gaudino and Roberto Giuntoli, built like a small stele. On the front, three spirals introduce a geometric and symbolic sign; the back, however, reveals more free-flowing drips and layers, creating two different readings of the same work.

Eclissi Verticale has two identities. The front is controlled and synthetic: three spirals vertically punctuate the surface, giving the form an almost ritualistic rhythm. The back, however, abandons this discipline, allowing the glaze to move through more spontaneous drips and overlaps.

It is precisely this difference that makes the sculpture interesting in space. There is no single "correct" side: by rotating it, the artwork transitions from a graphic and symbolic presence to a more painterly and textural surface.

Its narrow and vertical proportions allow it to be placed on a bookshelf, a desk, or a console table. It can be oriented to display the more rigorous side or to show the drips on the back, changing the character of the environment without changing the object itself.

Use and Care

Eclissi Verticale is a decorative indoor sculpture. Do not wet it, and clean it only with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid detergents, impacts, and sudden temperature changes.

The spirals, glazing, and drips record two different modes of Gaudino and Giuntoli's gesture: control and freedom. No surface can be perfectly replicated. An artwork selected by Vicode for its ability to change identity depending on the observation point.
