Fazzoletto con Aquilone (Handkerchief with Kite) is an original painting by Matteo Balistreri from 2010. Balistreri creates a painting within a painting. The white handkerchief becomes a second surface upon which the kite comes to life, while the lace painted in the upper part accentuates the ambiguity between what is real and what is represented.

The two clothespins introduce a familiar, everyday detail, but the small kite transforms the scene into something more suspended and imaginative.

The vertical format is well-suited for a small wall, above a piece of furniture, or as part of a series of works by Balistreri.
