Capitello – Tall Onion-Colored Ceramic Vase

In Capitello, the reference to architecture is evident but never literal. The form starts from the proportions of ancient columns, retaining above all a sense of verticality: a long, slender body rises almost without interruption, then widens at the top and closes in a short neck.

It is a free reinterpretation of the relationship between shaft and capital, reduced to a few essential passages. No ornament, no explicit archaeological reference: it is the proportion itself that suggests the project's origin.

CASAKŪ envisioned this family as a pair of slender bottles of different heights, designed to be placed side by side. Together they create a small architectural rhythm; separately, however, they retain a sufficiently strong silhouette to exist as autonomous sculpture vases.

With its 35 centimeters in height and just 10 in width, Capitello occupies little floor space but develops a very distinct vertical presence. This proportion is particularly suited to creating a counterpoint to lower objects, books, sculptures, or horizontal volumes.

The onion color, warm and slightly earthy, reduces the severity of the geometry. On the GESSO surface, it loses brilliance and acquires a deeper, more powdery quality, capable of interacting with dark woods, natural stones, travertine, burnished metals, and neutral tones.

Capitello is conceived and designed by CASAKŪ and handcrafted in Indonesia. The surface is created using a technique developed with the artisans, which involves the use of a plaster primer, responsible for the collection's characteristic soft, opaque, and tactile finish.

It is a way of interpreting contemporary ceramic vases through architecture and proportion: an essential decorative object, in balance between artistic ceramics, sculpture, and design.

The interior is left raw and not waterproofed: the vase is not suitable for holding water. It can be displayed empty or accompanied by a single branch or dry botanical element.
