Impronta is a ceramic vase that reveals the gesture with which it was made. On the tall and slender body, a sequence of light pressures interrupts the regularity of the surface: these are marks manually impressed with fingertips into the still-raw terracotta. The cement grey hue and chalky finish absorb the light, giving the form a sober, tactile, and almost sculptural character.

Product Description

Even before color or shape, it's the surface of Impronta that catches the eye. It's not perfectly uniform, nor is it meant to be: small indentations run along the body of the vase, revealing the touch of the hand that crafted it.

During the modeling process, each hollow is manually created by pressing fingertips into the terracotta before firing. The gesture thus remains incorporated into the material. It's not added as a subsequent decoration but belongs to the very construction of the object, making each piece slightly different from the last.

The silhouette, just 11 centimeters wide and stretching 43 centimeters vertically, contrasts with this irregular surface. The body is narrow and elongated, progressively tapering towards the neck and ending with a small flared opening. An almost graphic proportion, designed to create presence without occupying much space.

In cement grey, the ceramic acquires a particularly architectural character. The neutral tone highlights the surface variations and makes Impronta easy to pair with stone, dark woods, metal, glass, or natural materials. On a console, inside a bookcase, or next to objects with sharper geometries, it functions as a discreet yet recognizable vertical presence.

The vase is conceived and designed by CASAKŪ and handcrafted in Indonesia. After the terracotta work, the surface is finished using the technique developed for the GESSO collection, involving a gypsum primer that gives the ceramic its characteristic matte, soft, and powdery finish.

In this case, the finish does not conceal the underlying craftsmanship; on the contrary, it follows the indentations and slight irregularities, linking two aspects of contemporary artisanal ceramic – the control of design and the unpredictability of the human touch.

The interior remains raw and unsealed: the vase is not suitable for holding water. It can be used as a standalone sculptural object or with dried elements and branches.
