The Bwa Mask with Horns is a hand-carved wooden sculpture from Burkina Faso. The vertical structure is defined by geometric patterns, circles, triangles, and checkerboard fields, culminating in large upper horns. Standing 72 centimeters tall, it possesses a particularly strong graphic and architectural presence.

Product Description

The Bwa Mask is built on a very distinct verticality. Its great height and protruding horns create a recognizable profile even from a distance, while the surface introduces a second level of interpretation through geometry.

Circles, triangles, and chromatic alternations visually break up the wood and transform the mask into an almost abstract composition. The carving and decoration are not perceived separately: they work together to define the solids, voids, and rhythm of the surface.

To highlight it, I would avoid an overly cluttered display. On a large neutral wall, above a minimalist console, or isolated in a study, the mask can be observed first as a sculpture and only then in its details.

Use and Care

Do not wet the wood. Protect from persistent humidity, direct sunlight, and heat sources. Dust with a soft, dry cloth, without waxes or detergents.

The Charm of Handmade
