Crettatura Notturna is a designer black ceramic vase from Sejnane, freely hand-modeled by Farida. Its amphora-like silhouette is covered in anthracite and lead black hues, traversed by a dense crazing created during firing.

The surface appears to hold a fossil map, intensified by polishing with seashells.

Product Description

Crettatura Notturna is defined by a continuous silhouette: a soft, rounded base gradually narrows to form a straight, slender neck. The shape recalls ancient ceremonial containers, but is reduced to an essential and contemporary volume.

The surface introduces a second level of interpretation. A delicate network of crazing crosses the terracotta like a set of veins, geological fractures, or marks left by time. The pattern is not drawn on afterwards, but arises from the thermal reactions that accompany firing under straw.

The smoke generates tones ranging from deep black to anthracite grey, while shell polishing highlights the more compact parts. The vase can be displayed on a sideboard, a bookcase, or a console, preferably near a side light capable of making the crazing legible.

Use and care

The terracotta is porous and not glazed internally. Use Crettatura Notturna as a decorative sculpture or with dry arrangements; do not pour water into it. Clean with a soft, completely dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

The network of crazing, the dark nuances, and the profile of the ampoule vary from one point to another on the surface. They are the result of the encounter between Farida's work and the unpredictability of firing. A designer vase selected by Vicode for its material depth and the quiet character of its form.
