Nesso – Terracotta Ceramic Sculpture Vase

Nesso arises from a principle of relationship. Its shape was not conceived as a completely autonomous volume, but as one of two parts of a composition capable of approaching each other almost to interlock.

The design is more vertical than its complementary element. From a collected base, the body rises with two different trajectories: one side remains more stable and continuous, the other expands in a soft curve before reaching the neck. This asymmetry creates a very precise tension, without the need to add any decorative elements.

When paired with Tessera, Nesso highlights the original idea of the project: two different forms that find balance when placed in relation, almost as if they were parts of the same puzzle. Separated, however, both maintain an independent presence. Nesso in particular has a taller, more graphic development, capable of creating a vertical accent on a console, a credenza, or within a bookshelf.

The choice of terracotta color strengthens the physical character of the object. This is not a natural surface: the shade is made more uniform, deep, and contemporary by the GESSO finish, which eliminates reflections and gives the ceramic a dry, almost powdery appearance.

Conceived and designed by CASAKŪ, Nesso is handcrafted in Indonesia. The surface is achieved through a technique developed with the artisans, which involves applying a gesso primer that gives the object its characteristic soft, chalky, and completely matte finish.

Here, artistic ceramic is treated almost as a compositional element: it is not the ornamentation that defines the object, but the way in which curve, proportion, and material interact with what is next to it.

The interior remains unglazed and unsealed: the vase is not suitable for holding water. It can be displayed alone or accompanied exclusively by dry branches and botanical elements.
