Pelago is a ceramic sculpture with a playful yet far from naive presence. The fish figure is redesigned through full volumes, subtle details, and a large tail that transforms the profile into an almost graphic composition. The powder pink color and chalky surface of the GESSO collection soften any decorative effect, highlighting form, material, and gesture above all.

Product Description

Pelago brings a recognizable figure into the collection, but immediately abstracts it from realistic representation. The fish becomes a small sculptural volume: the body is compact, anatomical elements are simplified, and the tail opens into a wide, irregular shape that completely alters the silhouette's balance.

It is precisely this disproportion that gives the object its character. On one side, the body, almost gathered and material; on the other, the tail, larger, thinner, and more graphic. Two different visual weights that make Pelago interesting even when viewed in profile or placed among objects with more essential geometries.

The details do not strive for precision. Eyes, fins, and small reliefs emerge from the surface like marks modeled directly into the material, retaining that slight imperfection that gives handcrafted ceramics a more authentic and less serial presence.

The powder pink color introduces a further contrast. A soft, almost powdery tone, applied to a figure traditionally associated with the marine world. The special GESSO finish eliminates the surface's shine and makes the color more sophisticated, suitable even for rigorous and contemporary environments.

Conceived and designed by CASAKŪ, Pelago is handcrafted in Indonesia. The surface is completed using a technique developed with artisans for the GESSO collection, through the application of a plaster primer that gives the ceramic its characteristic matte, soft, and tactile finish.

Pelago belongs to that borderland between artistic ceramics, decorative objects, and small sculptures that allows a figurative element to enter an interior without becoming a mere ornament. On a bookshelf, a console, or a low table, it introduces an unexpected note, especially when paired with books, stones, dark woods, or more abstract forms.
