Vestigia – Rope-Colored Ceramic Sculpture Vase

In Vestigia, the hand does not disappear at the end of the manufacturing process. It remains on the surface, visible through a constellation of small indentations that interrupt the continuity of the ceramic and make each piece slightly different.

The depressions are created one by one, by manually pressing fingertips into the still raw clay before firing. They are therefore not an applied or mechanically reproduced texture: they are the direct result of the contact between the artisan's hand and the material.

The shape chosen by CASAKŪ makes this gesture even more evident. Vestigia has a wide, stable base, a body that progressively narrows upwards, and a small flared neck that concludes the figure with a lighter movement. The silhouette almost resembles an archaic volume reduced to its essence, without decorative elements that interrupt its reading.

On this broad surface, the finger impressions react to light in ever-changing ways. Some remain barely perceptible, others generate small areas of shadow; observed closely, the vase thus reveals a complexity that remains deliberately discreet from a distance.

The rope color reinforces this quality. It is a neutral and warm tone that does not seek contrast, but highlights the relationship between surface and volume. Paired with natural woods, travertine, light stones, raw fabrics, or burnished metals, Vestigia maintains a material presence without weighing down the composition.

Conceived and designed by CASAKŪ, the vase is handcrafted in Indonesia and completed through the particular technique developed for the GESSO collection. The application of a plaster primer gives the ceramic its characteristic opaque, soft, and almost powdery finish, reducing reflections and enhancing the irregularities of the manual workmanship.

Vestigia thus interprets contemporary artistic ceramics through an essential element: the mark left by its creator. A design vase that can exist as an autonomous object, on a credenza, a table, or a console, without needing to be completed by other elements.

The interior is left raw and not waterproofed: the vase is not suitable for holding water. It can be displayed empty or used with branches and dry arrangements.
