Anfora Policroma Screziata is a handmade ceramic vase modeled by Najed according to the knowledge of the women of Sejnane, recognized by UNESCO.

The bottle shape is crossed by natural shades of sand, orange, black, and gray, generated directly from the firing process. A unique designer vase from the Malles x Vicode collection.

Product Description

Najed shapes the amphora entirely by hand, without using a potter's wheel. The rounded body progressively narrows towards the neck, retaining slight asymmetries that reveal the manual construction of the volume.

After shaping, the surface is smoothed and polished with seashells. The polychromy, however, is created during open-air firing: the flame and smoke from the straw unpredictably meet the clay, creating sand-colored areas, orange transitions, and extensive black and grey speckling. No glazes are applied to achieve this effect.

Due to its size, the vase can be displayed on a deep sideboard, a central table, or a pedestal. Its slender form can accommodate very minimalist dried branches, but it also maintains full autonomy as a domestic sculpture.

Use and care

Low-fired terracotta remains naturally porous. The vase is intended for decorative use or dry arrangements and should not be filled with water. Clean exclusively with a soft, dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

Shape, color, and speckling are the result of a process that cannot be identically replicated. Each mark preserves Najed's gesture and the imprint of fire. A designer vase selected by Vicode to combine the ceramic tradition of Sejnane with a contemporary sensibility, far removed from serial production.
