This vintage Spanish terracotta botijo is an original item selected by Vicode during a search in Spain.

The lower part retains the rough and porous surface of the clay, while the top is covered with a thick and luminous honey-colored glaze. A traditional shape reinterpreted as a contemporary decorative vase.

Product Description

The botijo is a traditional Spanish container designed to store and cool water thanks to the natural porosity of terracotta. In this vintage piece, the original function gives way to a new decorative interpretation, without erasing the object's history and character.

The base is left in raw terracotta, with a porous and irregular surface. The upper part, on the other hand, is covered with a honey-colored glaze, which is more compact and reflective. The contrast between the two finishes makes the construction immediately legible and accentuates the warmth of the tones.

It can be displayed alone on a shelf, sideboard, or bench, or grouped with other ceramics to create a more elaborate composition. Any signs of use, variations in the glaze, and small irregularities are part of its history and should not be considered defects.
