Policroma Sfumata is a ceramic bottle vase from Sejnane, hand-shaped by Mufida and polished with seashells.

The ivory base is streaked with red hues and large black areas, produced by the different exposure of the clay to flame and smoke during firing.

Product Description

The collected proportions of Policroma Sfumata draw attention to its surface. The soft body narrows towards a small opening, creating a compact form that can be easily observed in its entirety.

On this volume, the fire creates a kind of abstract painting. The natural ivory of the clay remains visible in some areas; elsewhere, reddish passages appear due to oxidation and black spots generated by smoke. The colors do not have precise boundaries but blend and overlap.

Polishing with seashells makes the surface smoother and highlights the polychromy without erasing the earthy nature of the material. Thanks to its small size, the vase can be placed on a bookshelf, desk, or shelf, alone or in dialogue with books and small objects in neutral tones.

Use and care

Sejnane terracotta is naturally porous and unglazed internally. Use the vase as a decorative element or with a single dry stem; do not pour water into it. Clean only with a dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

The transition from ivory to red and black does not follow a predetermined design. Mufida prepares and polishes the form, while firing completes its surface. A ceramic vase selected by Vicode to enclose the unpredictable force of the elements on an intimate scale.
