Najed's Polychrome Jug is a handmade ceramic vase from Sejnane, hand-moulded and polished without the use of glazes. Rust-orange accents and grey-blue veiling emerge from the ivory clay base, generated by oxidation and smoke during firing. A unique piece from the Malles x Vicode collection.

Product Description

The surface of the Polychrome Jug can be observed as an abstract composition built from its elements. The ivory tone of the clay forms the background on which rust-orange spots and grey-blue glazes appear, lacking regular outlines.

The warmer hues derive from natural oxidation present in the earth, while the cold and ash-grey areas document the encounter with smoke. Najed does not paint these variations: she prepares the form, smooths the surface, and entrusts the final chromatic definition to the firing process.

Its open structure and vertical profile allow the jug to serve as a design vase on a console, a sideboard, or a shelf. The natural tones interact with stone, wood, lime, and burnished metals. A composition of dried branches can complete it without covering the design produced by the fire.

Use and care

Sejnane terracotta is unglazed and maintains its porosity. Use the jug as a decorative element or for dry arrangements; do not fill it with water. Clean exclusively with a soft, dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

Najed intervenes on the form and surface, but allows oxidation, flame, and smoke to complete its color. Each jug thus develops its own chromatic map, impossible to replicate. A ceramic vase selected by Vicode to combine artisanal knowledge, light, and natural material.
