Ochre Matrix – Glazed Ceramic Geometric Sculpture

Matrice Ocra starts from the grid, an apparently regular structure, to modify its rhythm and proportions.

Within the square perimeter, the openings change size and the partitions do not exclusively follow orthogonal lines. Some tilt, others interrupt the continuity of the structure. The result retains the idea of the module, but transforms it into a freer and more sculptural composition.

From the front, the design of solids and voids predominates. By shifting the point of observation, the seven centimeters of depth, however, reveal the internal planes: each opening becomes a small cavity and the inclined surfaces continually modify the way light passes through the object.

The ochre yellow glaze is a determining part of the composition. On the most exposed surfaces, the color appears full and bright; inside the openings, it becomes deeper, creating chromatic variations and shaded areas. The slight irregularities of the glaze and ceramic maintain the material character of the piece and introduce an interesting tension with the rigor of the geometry.

Selected in La Bisbal d'Empordà, Matrice Ocra belongs to the Echi di Geometria collection, where openings, modules and structures are observed as autonomous forms and transformed into small architectural presences for the contemporary interior.

Placed on a bookshelf, a console, or a shelf, it gains particular strength when it can interact with light and with the space left free behind it: what is glimpsed through the openings enters the composition and continually modifies its interpretation.

Matrice Ocra is a unique piece. The variations in glaze, color, and surface are part of its identity.

Glazed ceramics should be handled with care. For ordinary cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth; when necessary, you can gently wipe with a cloth lightly dampened with water and immediately dry the surface. Avoid aggressive detergents, abrasive sponges, impacts, and thermal shocks.
