Silent Guardian is a totemic sculpture in black Sejnane ceramic, hand-shaped by Habiba according to traditional female ceramic knowledge recognized by UNESCO.

The elongated body, stylized face, and clasped arms define a hieratic anthropomorphic figure, 43 centimeters tall.

Product Description

Silent Guardian translates the human figure into a few essential elements. The body develops vertically, widening slightly towards the base; crossed arms close the composition and the face emerges through synthetic features, without realistic intent.

The frontal posture gives the sculpture a stable and contemplative character. It does not represent a specific character, but evokes the universal idea of the guardian, the idol, or the figure placed to protect a space.

Habiba models the work without molds and polishes the clay with sea shells. During firing under straw, the surface takes on black and smoke-gray tones, traversed by metallic reflections more evident on the smoothed areas. Placed on a sideboard, console, or pedestal, the sculpture creates a clear vertical axis and can interact with contemporary works, books, and natural materials.

Use and care

Silent Guardian is a decorative indoor sculpture. The terracotta is unglazed and must be protected from water, humidity, and atmospheric agents. Dust gently with a soft, completely dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

Features, posture, and slight asymmetries retain the imprint of Habiba's work. The dark finish also depends on the unrepeatable action of fire and smoke. A sculpture selected by Vicode for its ability to relate tradition, the human figure, and contemporary sensibility without resorting to conventional decorative formulas.
