Oblique Rhythm – Geometric Sculpture in White Ceramic

*Ritmo Obliquo* starts with an extremely simple structure: a vertical rectangle intersected by a series of openings. However, it is what happens within this framework that gives the sculpture its identity.

The lines do not all run in the same direction. They lean, change direction, and interrupt the regularity of the grid, creating a sequence that reads almost like a rhythm. The void thus becomes an active part of the object: it is not a space subtracted from the material, but the element that allows light to pass through it and continuously modify its perception.

Viewed frontally, the sculpture has a very clear graphic presence. Shifting the viewpoint, however, reveals the five centimeters of depth, the internal thicknesses, and the slight variations in the ceramic work. The seemingly two-dimensional geometry thus acquires a decidedly architectural character.

The white glaze accentuates this relationship with light. More exposed surfaces appear light and continuous, while deeper shadows form within the openings, making the construction legible. Small imperfections and variations in the glaze are not hidden: they preserve the vibrant quality of the ceramic and distinguish the piece from a perfectly serial industrial form.

Selected in La Bisbal d’Empordà, *Ritmo Obliquo* belongs to the *Echi di Geometria* collection, a Vicode research dedicated to ceramic forms capable of transforming modules, openings, solids, and voids into small sculptural presences.

At 29 centimeters high, it can be placed on a console, a bookcase, or a shelf, preferably leaving free space behind it: it is precisely through that visual opening that the sculpture interacts most with its environment.
