Comparini constructs the piece using two immediately recognizable images: the heart and the pear. The former is rendered in the rigidity of metal; the latter introduces an organic, everyday reference.

This contrast prevents the work from being interpreted solely symbolically. The weight, welds, and surface of the iron also become part of the experience, giving the sculpture a physical presence that exceeds its contained dimensions.

It can be displayed on a pedestal, a very solid shelf, or inside a display case.
