Anima Catalana is a designer terracotta botijo, hand-molded in artisan workshops in Calafell, Catalonia. Its slender silhouette connects the raw clay base with the moss-green glazed top, creating a stark contrast between porous material and a vitreous surface.

Product Description

The profile of Anima Catalana harks back to the botijo without literally reproducing its traditional form. The body develops in height through a thin and slightly irregular line, which retains traces of its manual shaping.

The character of the piece comes primarily from the interplay of two finishes. In the lower part, the terracotta remains exposed, warm and porous; moving towards the top, the material is enveloped by a more compact and luminous moss-green glaze. The transition is not perfectly uniform and reveals the point where earth and ceramic glass meet.

It can be displayed on a console, a shelf, or a sideboard, either alone or alongside ceramics in natural tones. Its slender proportions also lend themselves to niches and intimate spaces, where the difference between the two surfaces can be observed up close.

Use and Care
Anima Catalana is primarily conceived as a decorative sculpture. To preserve the open-pore terracotta and the glazed finish, do not fill it with water and clean it exclusively with a soft, dry cloth.

The Charm of Handmade
The slightly asymmetrical line, the variations in the terracotta, and the irregular edge of the glaze tell the story of the artisan's work. These are not imperfections to be corrected, but elements that distinguish the piece from mass production.
