Solar Threshold – Geometric Sculpture in Yellow Ceramic

Soglia Solare (Solar Threshold) is born from the encounter of two absolute forms. The square perimeter defines a precise limit; at its center, a large circle removes material and opens the sculpture to the surrounding space.

It is an elementary construction, yet far from static. The void constantly changes: from the front, it appears as a sharp, almost graphic figure; moving sideways, the depth of the opening becomes visible, and the circle perspectively transforms into an ellipse. The sculpture thus transitions from surface to volume without altering its design.

The ocher yellow introduces a second level of interpretation. The color concentrates light on the main face, amplifying its presence, while the inner and lateral areas produce softer shadows. The result is a compact yet luminous object, capable of creating a focal point even with small dimensions.

Small variations in the surface and glaze keep the ceramic nature of the object evident. The precision of the geometry coexists with a material that does not seek industrial uniformity: edges, chromatic transitions, and slight irregularities make the piece more alive when observed closely.

Selected in La Bisbal d'Empordà, Soglia Solare enters the Echi di Geometria (Echoes of Geometry) collection, where shapes, openings, and modular structures are isolated from their possible functional meaning and read exclusively as small domestic architectures.

On a bookshelf, a shelf, a console, or at the center of a composition, the opening allows the background to become part of the object. Stone, wood, fabric, or simply light pass through the circle, modifying its perception each time.

Glazed ceramic should be handled with care. For ordinary cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth; when necessary, you can gently wipe with a cloth lightly dampened with water and immediately dry the surface. Avoid harsh detergents, abrasive sponges, impacts, and sudden temperature changes.
