Product Description

Farida's Vaso Alto is created through a slow and progressive process. The artisan coils clay to build a wide body that tapers towards the neck, maintaining the balance of the form without using a potter's wheel.

The verticality is not perfectly rigid. Slight movements of the axis and variations in the profile preserve the memory of the manual construction, making the vase similar to an upright figure. The tall neck concentrates the momentum in the upper part, while the wider base keeps the piece stable.

Firing transforms the surface into a natural map. The beige of the clay alternates with orange areas produced by oxidation and black clouds left by straw smoke. Polishing with seashells creates a subtle, almost waxy finish that intensifies the colors without making them appear glazed. Due to its size and weight, the vase is suitable for a deep sideboard, a central table, or a pedestal.

Use and care

Terracotta is porous and not glazed internally. Use the vase as a standalone sculpture or with dried branches that complement its vertical development; do not fill it with water. Clean with a soft, dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

Every step of the construction remains inscribed in the form, while firing defines an ever-changing chromatic geography. The vase cannot be reproduced identically because it arises from the balance between Farida's technique and the unpredictability of the elements. A piece selected by Vicode for its impressive presence, materiality, and authenticity.
