Radici di Sabbia (Sand Roots) is a Sejnane ceramic vase hand-molded by Hanene. The goblet shape is punctuated by small tactile reliefs, while a large ash and bluish shade interrupts the natural tone of the earth. The craftsmanship is part of the ceramic knowledge of the women of Sejnane, recognized by UNESCO.

Product Description

Radici di Sabbia builds its identity through touch. The body gradually widens towards the opening, taking the shape of a stable and contained chalice. On the surface, Hanene arranges rows of small reliefs reminiscent of studs, seeds, or traces left on the earth.

The regularity of the volume is interrupted by a large ash-grey and bluish presence. This is not painted decoration: the shading arises during firing, at the point where the flame and smoke most intensely meet the clay. The mark thus becomes the visible memory of an event that occurred in the fire.

Its proportions allow the vase to be placed on a bookshelf, a console table, or a sideboard. The form can be observed frontally or rotated to highlight the relationship between the sand-colored base, the reliefs, and the darker imprint of the firing. It does not need flowers to assert its presence.

Use and care

Sejnane terracotta is porous and not glazed internally. Use Radici di Sabbia as a decorative sculpture or with dry arrangements; do not pour water into it. Clean with a soft, completely dry cloth.
