Black Sculptural Cylinder is a designer ceramic vase from Sejnane, hand-shaped by artisan Hanene. Its cylindrical form is covered with three-dimensional reliefs that create a rhythm of light and shadow.

The black color, with grey and metallic reflections, is created by the contact of the clay with smoke during firing.

Product Description

Hanene starts with an essential cylindrical volume, similar to a ceremonial vessel, and modifies its surface by applying a succession of small, individually sculpted reliefs. The texture breaks up the regularity of the body and makes the piece look different depending on its orientation.

The dark hue does not come from a black glaze. During traditional firing, smoke penetrates the porosity of the clay and creates variations ranging from deep black to gray and gunmetal.

Its compact size makes it suitable for a bookshelf, desk, or shelf. It can be left empty, used to hold small dry objects, or paired with a very simple dry arrangement.

Use and care

Sejnane pottery is porous and not glazed internally. Do not fill the vase with water. To clean, use only a soft, dry cloth.

This piece is born from the ceramic knowledge of the women of Sejnane, recognized by UNESCO. The shape, reliefs, and smoke firing retain the traces of Hanene's work and make each piece unique. A design accent selected by Vicode for the value of the material, tradition, and artisan craft.
