Ombra Notturna (Night Shadow) is a tall-necked vase in black Sejnane ceramic, hand-shaped by Habiba. The spherical, compressed base supports an exceptionally slender neck, creating a stark balance between weight and verticality.

The smoked surface features anthracite, graphite, and metallic grey reflections.

Product Description

Ombra Notturna is defined by an almost extreme relationship between its proportions. The wide, gathered base concentrates the weight in the lower part; the long cylindrical neck, on the other hand, projects the form upwards and introduces a sensation of lightness.

The verticality is not perfectly mechanical. Slight variations in the axis reveal Habiba's progressive work on the clay and give the vase an individual posture, similar to that of a standing figure.

The black obtained through smoking changes in intensity along the surface. The base appears deeper and more opaque, while the polished parts of the neck take on graphite and metallic reflections. To enhance its proportions, the vase can be placed on a low console, a sideboard or a plinth, leaving free space above the form.

Use and care

Terracotta is porous and unglazed internally. Use Ombra Notturna as a standalone sculpture or with a single dried branch; do not pour water inside it. Place it on a stable surface and clean it with a soft, dry cloth.

Building such a slender neck without a potter's wheel requires continuous control of the clay's balance and humidity. The slight variations in silhouette and smoking make each piece unique. A design vase selected by Vicode for its vertical and silent elegance.
