Goccia Nera is a black ceramic design vase from Sejnane, hand-moulded by artisan Mufida and polished with river stones.

Its compact, organic shape resembles a petrified droplet, while the smoked surface reflects light with shades ranging from deep black to metallic grey. The craftsmanship belongs to the ceramic knowledge of the women of Sejnane, recognized by UNESCO.

Product Description

The silhouette of Goccia Nera is built around a soft, continuous volume. The gathered base supports a full body that gradually narrows towards the opening, without sharp edges or abrupt interruptions. The slight asymmetry of the profile prevents the shape from appearing static and makes the vase look different from every angle.

Mufida models the clay without a potter's wheel and entrusts the color to traditional firing under straw. The smoke penetrates the material, creating dark, not perfectly uniform tones. The subsequent polishing with river stones compacts the surface and generates more intense reflections on the most polished parts, contrasting with the opaque areas.

The vase can be displayed on a sideboard, a coffee table, or a low pedestal. Its essential form harmonizes with light stone, natural woods, burnished metals, and contemporary interiors, without requiring additional decorative elements.

Use and care

Sejnane terracotta is low-fired and retains a natural porosity. Use the vase as a decorative sculpture or with dry arrangements; do not pour water into it. Clean only with a soft, dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

The shape of Goccia Nera is not created from a mold, and its surface is not covered with industrial glaze. The profile, smoking, and polishing preserve Mufida's touch, making each piece unique. A designer vase selected by Vicode for its ability to transform an ancient technique into an essential and contemporary presence.
