Vaso Policromo Ancestrale is a designer ceramic vase from Sejnane, freehand sculpted by Najed and polished with seashells.

The ivory base is streaked with black spots and orange highlights, directly created by fire and smoke firing. Each color variation makes the piece unique.

Product Description

The surface of Vaso Policromo Ancestrale can be read as a record of a process. The natural ivory of the clay forms the background, upon which fire leaves orangey passages and smoke imprints more compact black areas. The color is neither painted nor applied via glaze.

Najed prepares the shape entirely by hand and smooths it with seashells before firing. This process makes the surface more compact and allows the different shades to emerge with greater clarity, while still preserving the natural character of the terracotta.

The full body gradually narrows towards the opening, recalling the structure of an amphora without rigidly reproducing it. On a sideboard, a table, or a pedestal, the vase can be rotated to display ever-changing chromatic compositions. Side lighting particularly enhances the contrast between the ivory areas and the deeper traces of smoke.

Use and Care

Sejnane ceramics are low-fired and not glazed internally. Use the vase as a decorative sculpture or with dried branches and arrangements; do not fill it with water. Dust with a soft, dry cloth.
