Architettura del Silenzio (Architecture of Silence) is a designer ceramic vase from Sejnane, hand-moulded by Hanene. A cylindrical base supports a vertical neck, flanked by a large handle that creates a distinct void and transforms the profile into a small piece of architecture.

The sand and ash tones are generated directly by fire and smoke firing.

Product Description

The character of the Architecture of Silence depends on the relationship between matter and empty space. The cylindrical base, solid and compact, supports a slender neck; next to it, the large handle is perceived not only as a grip, but as an arch framing a portion of the background.

Viewed from the front, the vase almost appears like the facade of a building. Shifting the viewpoint, the handle overlaps the body and alters the relationship between solids and voids. Hanene thus uses a traditional typology to construct an object with a surprisingly architectural interpretation.

The surface remains clear and earthy. The gray shadows left by the smoke cross the base without following a predefined design, while the shell polishing makes some areas more compact. The vase can live on a console or sideboard, preferably against a uniform background that makes the void of the handle legible.

Use and care

The terracotta is not internally glazed and retains its natural porosity. Use the vase with dry branches and arrangements or as a standalone sculpture; do not fill it with water. Dust with a soft, dry cloth.

The charm of handmade

The balance between the base, neck, and handle is built directly by Hanene, without molds or a potter's wheel. The slight asymmetries make the central void always different and give the piece its own identity. A vase selected by Vicode for its ability to transform a traditional ceramic gesture into a contemporary reflection on architecture.
