Calice del Deserto is a totem ceramic vase from Sejnane, hand-shaped by Habiba. Its extremely slender silhouette culminates in a flared opening, while the black surface features leaden hues and metallic reflections produced by firing under straw.

Product Description

Calice del Deserto transforms the shape of the container into a vertical figure. The narrow base supports an elongated body that seems to rise without interruption, opening at the top like a chalice or an ancient ceremonial cup.

The height accentuates the totemic character of the piece and invites observers to view it as a presence in space, not just as an object resting on a surface. The slight deviations from the axis, inevitable in freehand modeling, make the verticality more lively and less rigid.

Firing under straw produces a dark surface, where black, lead grey, and metallic reflections change with the light. It can be placed on a low console, a sideboard, or directly on a pedestal, where its silhouette remains completely visible. A single dry branch can extend its upward development.

Use and care

Terracotta is porous and not internally glazed. Use Calice del Deserto as a sculpture or with dry arrangements; do not fill it with water. Its tall shape requires a stable surface protected from bumps. Clean with a soft, dry cloth.
