Respiro d’Ombra is an openwork vase made of Sejnane ceramic, hand-molded and engraved by Hanene. The circular openings pass through the cylindrical body and transform the void into an integral part of the composition. On the ash-colored bottom, a deep sooty black impression bears witness to the flame's passage during firing.

Product Description

Respiro d’Ombra (Breath of Shadow) is born from the subtraction of material. Hanene manually opens large circular holes in the wall of the vase, lightening the cylinder and allowing light, background, and shadows to pass through its structure.

The openings do not follow an industrial grid. Size, distance, and profile change along the surface, creating a spontaneous rhythm and making each side different. When the vase is placed against a light-colored wall, the contrast between the voids and the ceramic body becomes even more evident.

The ashen background is interrupted by a large charcoal black stain created by smoke. This dark presence does not cover the structure, but rather accentuates its depth and makes the irregular edges of the perforations more legible. It can be displayed on a shelf, sideboard, or table as a small open architectural piece.

Use and care

Due to the perforated structure and the porosity of terracotta, the vase cannot hold water. Use it as a decorative sculpture or with lightweight dried arrangements. Do not insert candles or open flames. Clean with a soft, dry cloth.

Each opening is made directly by Hanene and retains a slightly different edge. The smoke mark also results from a unique firing event. A design vase selected by Vicode to transform the relationship between solid, void, and light into a contemporary presence.
