Goccia di Terra is a sculptural ceramic vase from Sejnane, hand-shaped by artisans in the region without the use of a potter's wheel or molds.

The conical and compact shape is defined by the natural shades of ochre and terracotta, traversed by a deep black firing mark produced during firing under straw.

Product Description

Goccia di Terra is not attributed to a single artisan, but rather embodies a collective identity. Its form stems from a shared practice, passed down within the female community of Sejnane and interpreted through individual variations in technique.

The volume features a wide base that progressively narrows towards a small opening. The profile is soft and compact, lacking the mechanical precision of a mold. Polishing with seashells makes some parts smoother, while still keeping the natural variations of the clay visible.

The surface is marked by a large and irregular black presence. This is not painted decoration: it is the trace left by more intense contact with smoke during firing. This dark flare interrupts the warm ocher tones and makes each side of the vase different. The form sits well on a coffee table, a sideboard, or a low pedestal, displayed freely as a sculpture.

Use and care

Low-fired terracotta is naturally porous. Use the vase exclusively as a decorative element or with dry arrangements; do not fill it with water. Dust with a soft, dry cloth.
